Following the Tigers’ disastrous World Cup performance, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has formed a three-member special committee to investigate what went behind such clumsy mess in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup India 2023. This was confirmed by a press release from the BCB.
The committee consists BCB directors Enayet Hossain Siraj (convenor), Akram Khan (member) and Mahbubul Anam (member).
The objective of the committee is to look into the factors contributing to the team's underperformance in the tournament. Following the investigation the committee will present their findings to the board, added the release.
The build-up to the World Cup was riddled with controversies surrounding the exclusion of Tamim Iqbal and his public spat with captain Shakib Al Hasan.
But before the tournament Bangladesh team and the team management had expressed hopes of making it to the semifinals as the team had a good run of form lately. However, the team failed to secure a spot in the semifinals and finished eighth among 10 teams in the tournament, winning only two of their nine matches.
