Bangladesh all-rounder Nasir Hossain has been slapped with a two-year ban from all cricket activities, with six months suspended, after admitting to breaching the ICC Anti-Corruption Code.
ICC confirmed his ban on January 16. Nasir, 32, confessed to three charges brought against him by the ICC in September 2023.
The charges included failing to disclose a gift with a value exceeding $750 - specifically, a new iPhone 12. The second charge related to his failure to divulge the full details of an invitation to engage in corrupt conduct via the iPhone 12. The third charge accused him of non-cooperation with the Anti-Corruption Official's investigation, encompassing the refusal to provide accurate and complete information.
A seasoned player, Nasir represented Bangladesh in 115 matches across formats from 2011 to 2018, accumulating 2695 runs and claiming 39 wickets. Despite his international hiatus, he remained active in the domestic scene, recently featuring for Prime Bank Cricket Club in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League.
The ban expires on April 7, 2025, with Nasir eligible to resume international cricket if he satisfies the conditions set for the suspended portion of the sanction.
