Babar Azam scored a remarkable fifty to help Rangpur Riders win their first match in the present Bangladesh Premier League, defeating Sylhet Strikers by four wickets on Tuesday (23 January) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
The right-handed hitter arrived in Dhaka on Monday (22 January) night and helped his team recover from a top-order wobble in a low-scoring encounter in Mirpur, thanks to player-of-the-match Azmatullah Omarzai.
They snatched an impressive victory from initial blow of losing 6 wickets only for 39 runs by adding 86 runs in an unbroken seventh-wicket stand as Rangpur Riders scored 125 for six in 18.2 overs in reply to Sylhet Strikers' 120 for 8 in 20 overs.
Babar hit an unbeaten 56 off 49 balls with six boundaries while Azmatullah remained not out on 47 off 35, which featured two fours and three sixes
