With the series hanging in the balance, Bangladesh is eyeing to secure it over Sri Lanka when the teams lock horns in the third and final ODI on Monday (18 March) in Chattogram.
Bangladesh won the first match of the series, but they failed in the second. On both occasions, the chasing team emerged victorious.
Towhid Hridoy showed a valiant effort in the second match scoring 96 not-out, but his effort went in vain as the bowler failed to defend a total of 286 runs.
The third match will be a day match. Teams might need to adjust their plan accordingly. The match will kick off at 10 am (Bangladesh time).
Bangladesh will have to make at least two changes as Litton Das was axed for the third match and Tanzim Hasan was ruled out due to an injury. To replace them, Bangladesh included Jaker Ali and Hasan Mahmud. While Hasan played ODIs before, Jaker is uncapped in this format.
Prolonged lean show in the format has eventually prompted the newly-appointed selection panel under the leadership of Gazi Ashraf Hossain to axe Litton for the third match.
Bangladesh allrounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz louded the approach of the Bangladesh management to play on sporting wickets instead of low and slow surfaces. He said this approach will prepare them to do well in the bigger events.
Naveed Nawaz, Sri Lanka's assistant coach, said that the due factor will not play a part in this match as the match is being held on day time. Be believes the conditon will be even for both teams in the third match.
Before the ODI series, these teams took on each other in a three-match T20I series that Sri Lanka won 2-1.
After the ODI series, they will move to a two-match Test series, with the first match being played in Sylhet and the second match will take place in Chattogram.
