’Joy Bangla Marathon’ held at city’s Hatirjheel

Bangladesh Police Athletics and Cycling Club organized “Joy Bangla Marathon 2024”, a half marathon, in the capital's Hatirjheel area friday (7 June) morning.

Many runners, both male and female, took part in the marathon at 5am and covered a distance of 21.095 kilometers. Later, the marathon ended at 9 am, a press release said.

Prime Minister's Adviser on Private Industry and Investment Salman F Rahman inaugurated it while Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Md Atiqul Islam was present as special guest.
 
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan was present as the chief guest to award participants at the end of the marathon, the release added.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) and Bangladesh Police Krira Parishad President Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun attended it as the special guest.

The runners participated in the half marathon in four categories. They had to cover the distance of about 22 kilometers within 3 hours and 40 minutes.
 
Ten individuals were awarded from each category and all participants received jerseys, medals and certificates.
