Tiger captain Najmul Hossain Shanto quoted on leg-spinner Rishad Hossain is still not prepared for test cricket, although he is the highest wicket-taker for Bangladesh in the recent T20 World Cup in USA.
Rishad's leg spin role has added diversity to Bangladesh's bowling attack in white-ball cricket. However, captain Nazmul expressed doubts about Rishad's suitability for Test cricket at the moment.
"In my opinion, I don't believe he is currently prepared for red-ball cricket," Shanto told the media on Tuesday (16 July).
The impact of the team's spin coach Mushtaq Ahmed in the T20 World Cup was closely highlighted following Rishad's success. Nazmul admitted Mushtaq's role but also credited the local coaches' contributions.
"Mushtaq has done an excellent job, and other spinners, including Rishad, have been comfortable working with him. However, I don't want to attribute all the credit to Mushtaq Ahmed alone. Rishad was receiving coaching from our local coaches even before that," he added.
