Women's T20 World Cup, which was scheduled to be held in Bangladesh next month, has been relocated to the United Arab Emirates due to the current political situation in the country. The International Cricket Council (ICC) made this decision during a virtual board meeting held in Dubai on Tuesday, August 20.
The tournament was originally planned to take place from October 3 to October 20, featuring 10 teams competing in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh previously hosted the Women's T20 World Cup in 2014, marking its first time as a host for the event.
Despite repeated assurances from Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, the interim government's Youth and Sports Advisor, that they would make every effort to keep the tournament in Bangladesh, the current situation has made it unfeasible. Several countries, including Australia and England, have issued travel advisories for their citizens regarding Bangladesh, contributing to the decision to move the event.
