Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out of the upcoming T20I series against Scotland.
However, 33-year-old suffered a low grade right calf strain during a training session in Sydney and has been replaced in the squad by Riley Meredith.
Cricket Australia have said that Hazlewood will undergo rehabilitation and is likely to make his return for the T20I and ODI series against England starting on September 11.
Meredith, the 28-year-old fast bowler, hasn't played for Australia since 2021 and will have an opportunity to add to his five T20I caps on the tour.
Coincidentally, he has been in fine form playing for Somerset in the T20 Blast, picking 14 wickets in 12 matches.
Hazlewood's injury compounds Australia's pace bowling challenges on the tour, with Mitchell Starc already ruled out and Pat Cummins rested to focus on the upcoming Test series against India.
