Bangladesh posted only 106 runs in their first innings of the Dhaka Test against South Africa on Monday. The hosts’ batters faltered as they failed to build effective partnerships.

For the visitors, Wiaan Mulder, Kagiso Rabad and Keshav Maharaj took three wickets each. While three wickets, Rabada completed his 300 wickets in Test career.

Before the lunch break, Bangladesh were at 60 for six wickets. They needed to come up strong to challenge the South African bowling attack, which they failed to do.

Four of Bangladesh’s top six batters failed to reach a double-digit innings. Mahmudul Hasan Joy was the highest run-getter, with 30 off 97 balls. Taijul Islam scored 16.

Bangladesh were bowled out more than an hour before the Tea break on day one.

Bangladesh won the toss in this match and opted to bat first. They never won a Test match against South Africa despite playing 14 matches.
