Rangpur Riders which became the first Bangladeshi franchise to feature in an overseas league through inaugural edition of the Global Super League (GSL) T20 in Guyana today unveiled their jersey for the tournament.
The tournament starts start on December 27 with five teams competing for a US$1million prize fund across 11 matches. The other teams are Hampshire Hawks, Lahore Qalandars, Rangpur Riders, Victoria and hosts Guyana Amazon Warriors.
One time BPL champions Rangpur will kick off their campaign against Hampshire on November 28.
"It's an opportunity for us to make our case stronger for the global tournament. It's a highly competitive tournament and so this is an honour for
us that we are getting the chance to represent Bangladesh outside of home as a franchise," Rangpur Riders captain Nurul Hasan Sohan said during a press conference today at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
"And it's a responsibility for us also to do well. We'll try our best to give 100 percent from our end so that we get more such opportunities in the future for the betterment of our cricket."
Team director Shahnian Tanim and BCB director Nazmul Abedin Fahim were also present during the jersey unveil ceremony.
The Rangpur players will head to Guyana, West Indies in phases to take part in the tournament. Some members, including national players, will depart on November 18, with others joining in phases. The team has been training hard under the guidance of assistant coach Mohammad Ashraful at the academy groundn of Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
