The 12th Kyokushin national karate competition was held at the Sultana Kamal Mahila Sports Complex in Dhanmondi on Friday, on the occasion of commemorating the 100th birth anniversary of Grand Master Masutatsu Ovama. Under the initiative of the Bangladesh Kyukushin Karate Academy and under the supervision of the Bangladesh Kyukushin Karate Association, this competition has been held regularly in Bangladesh since 2003.
Bangladesh Awami League Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim was present as the chief guest at the ceremony for the distribution of crests among the winners after the competition. Bangladesh Awami Volunteer League General Secretary AKM Afzalur Rahman Babu and Chandpur District Awami League Vice President Dr. JR Wadud Tipu were present as special guests.
A total of 49 contestants from 15 districts and 2 upazilas participated in this competition in 5 categories of children, boys, girls, women (open), and men (open) aged 7 to 40 years. In the children's category, Riyaduzzaman Anher secured the first position. Beside that, Musa Abdullah and Aayan Reza Aolad secured second and third positions, respectively.
